Chemical Peels in Phoenix, AZ
Exfoliation is a great way to give your skin a healthy glow, but at-home treatments may not be enough. Chemical peels are medical-grade treatments that safely remove layers of skin to reveal new, healthy skin cells. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Larry C. Leverett, offers medical-grade chemical peels for men and women in and around the Greater Phoenix area, such as Ahwatukee, Chandler and Gilbert.
What are Chemical Peels?
The phrase “chemical peel” may sound intimidating, but these treatments are FDA approved for exfoliating your skin. Chemical peels are available in three strengths:
- Light or mild chemical peels for treating dry, rough skin
- Medium chemical peels to improve skin tone, texture, and pigmentation, such as age spots, freckles, fine wrinkles and melasma
- Deep chemical peels for moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, age spots and acne scars
Each chemical peel uses a unique combination of chemicals that remains on the skin for a specific amount of time. Light and mild chemical peels typically do not require sedation, but the extent of a deep chemical peel does require sedation to help you remain comfortable.
Benefits of Chemical Peels
We offer chemical peels that can be used on any skin type and condition. Dr. Leverett uses his expertise in chemical peels and cosmetic treatments to recommend the peel that will give you the best results with the least amount of downtime.
Good Candidates for Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are great cosmetic treatments for a range of concerns, but the treatments cannot replace surgery. If you have more advanced signs of aging and poor skin elasticity, plastic surgery may be a better option for you. Dr. Leverett helps you make the best choice for your personal desires.

What Can I Expect from My Chemical Peel?
Dr. Leverett has chosen the best available medical-grade chemical peels for his patients.
Obagi® Blue Peels®
Obagi® Blue Peels are in the mild to medium category of chemical peels. Sedation is not normally required for these peels. Obagi® Blue Peels® are made with various strengths of trichloroacetic acid, or TCA. Treatment takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on the treatment area and skin conditions.
SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel®
The SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel® is in the light to mild category. The peel uses a combination of alpha hydroxyl and retinoic acids to exfoliate the skin, stimulate collagen production, improve skin tone and reduce pore size.
Micro Peel
A micro peel is the lightest type of chemical peel. A solution of glycolic acid is used for a gentle exfoliation that gives the skin a healthy glow.
SkinMedica® Rejuvenize Peel®
The SkinMedica® Rejuvenize Peel® is recommended for treating fine lines and wrinkles. The Rejuvenize Peel® significantly improves the skin in just one treatment, but up to six peels can be performed to address more severe skin problems.
After the Chemical Peel Treatment
If you receive a light to medium chemical peel, you will not have any downtime. Your skin will be slightly red and sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Deep chemical peels will require you to rest at home. Dr. Leverett and his staff provide details with aftercare instructions before you leave our office.
How Much Do Chemical Peels Cost?
The cost of a chemical peel is based upon the level of peel that is needed. After your consultation, we will have the information we need to provide you with an accurate cost.
